Why is one molar solution more concentrated than one molal solutions ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

A i m (aq) solutions contains, 1 mole of solute in 1 kg or 1 L of water. One the other hand, a 1 M(aq) solution contains 1 mole of solute in 1 L of solution . Clearly in this case volume of water used for making the solution is less than 1 L. For the same amount of solute. lesser the solvent more concentrated is the solution . thus 1 M (aq) is more concentrated than 1 m (aq) solution
