Methylamine and dimethylamine : Methylamine being a `1^(@)` amine will give carbylamine test, while dimethyamine, a `2^(@)` amine will not give this test. Methylamine when heated with chloroform and alcoholic KOH gives foul smelling methyl isocyanide.

`underset("Dimethylamine")(CH_(3)-NH-CH_(3))+CHCl_(3)+KOHoverset(Delta)rarr` No reaction
