Why are we able to sip hot tea or milk faster from saucer rather than a cup ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

A saucer is wider than a cup. Therefore, hot tea or milk has more surface area in a saucer than in a cup. Consequently there is more evaporation from a saucer than from a cup. As evaporation causes cooling therefore, hot tea or milk cools faster in a saucer than in a cup. That is why we are able to sip hot tea or milk faster from a saucer rather than a cup.
