Why potassium bromide (KBr) is non-conducting in solid state but it conducts electricity in molten state or in aqueous solution ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

KBr is an ionic compound with high melting point. In solid state, movement of ions is not possible due to rigid structure . But in molten state or in aqueous solution, Electrostatic force of attraction between oppositely charged ions is less thus conduct electricity due to movement of ions.
