Vapour density of a metal chloride is 66...

Vapour density of a metal chloride is 66. Its oxide contains `53%` metal. The atomic weight of the metal is

A

21

B

54

C

27.06

D

2.086

The correct Answer is:
C

Let wt. of metal oxide = 100g
wt. of metal = 53g
wt. of oxygen = 47g
Equivalent weight of oxygen ` = ("wt.of metal")/("wt. of oxygen") xx 8 = (53)/(47) xx 8 = 9.02`
Valency ` = (2 xx V.D)/(E + 35.5) = (2 xx 66)/(9 + 35.5) = (132)/(44.5)= 2.96 ~~3`
`therefore ` Atomic weight  Equivalent weight `xx` Valency
` = 9.02 xx 3 = 27.06`
