Which one of the following is the lightest ?

A

0.2 mole of hydrogen gas

B

`6.022 xx 10^(22)` molecules of nitrogen

C

0.1 g of silver

D

0.1 mole of oxygen gas

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
C

(a) Moles = given wt./molecular wt
Weight of `H_(2)` = mole `xx` molecular wt.
` = 0.2 xx 2 = 0.4 g`
` = 0.2 xx 2 =0.4 g`
(b ) `6.022 xx 10^(23)` represents 1 mole
Thus `6.022 xx 10^(22)` will represent 0.1 mole
Weight of `N_(2) = 0.1 xx 28 = 2.8 g`
(c) Weight of silver = 0.1g
(d) Weight of oxygen `= 32 xx 0.1 = 3.2 g`
(e) Weight of water = 1g
Thus,= 0.1g silver is the lightest.
