Molecular mass of `CO_(2) = 1 xx 12 + 2 xx 16 = 44g`
1 g molecule of `CO_(2)` contains 1g atoms of carbon
`because` 44 g of `CO_(2)` contain C = 12g atoms of carbon
`therefore % ` of C in `CO_(2)= (12)/(44) xx 100 = 27.27%`
Hence, the mass percent of carbon in `CO_(2)` is 27.27%
