How can the resolving power of a telescope be increased ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The resolving power of a telescope depends directly on the diameter of the objective lens or mirror, and inversely on the wavelength of radiation. Hence, the resolving power can be increased by
(1) using an objective lens/mirror of larger diameter
(2) observing a celestial object at smaller wavelengths.
