A particle performs SHM of ampiltude 10 cm. Its maximum velcoity during oscillations is 100 cm/s. What is its displacement, when the velocity is 60 cm/s ?

Data : A = 10 cm , ` v_(max) = 100 "cm/s" ,` v = 60 cm/s
` v_(max) = omegaA = 100 cm/s`
` omega = (v_(max))/A = 100 /10 10 rad//s`
Let x be the displacement of the particle when its velocity is v = 60 cm/s. Then,
` v= omega sqrt(A^(2) -x^(2))`
` 60 = 10 sqrt(100 -x^(2)) " " 6= sqrt(100 -x^(2)) " " therefore 36 = 100 -x^(2)`
`x^(2) = 64 , x= +- 8` cm
