Two tuning forks when sounded together ...

Two tuning forks when sounded together produce 5 beats per second. A sonometer wire of length 0.24 m is in unison with one of the forks. When the length of the wire is increased by 1 cm, it is unison with the other fork. Find the frequencies of the tuning forks.

Data : ` L_(1) = 0.24 m = 24 cm , L_(2) = 24 +1 = 25` cm
beat frequency = 5H z
`n prop = 1/L `
Since ` L_(2) gt L_(1) n_(2) gt n_(1)`
`n_(1)-n_(2) = 5 Hz and n_(1)/n_(2) = L_(2)/L_(1) = 25/24`
` (25/24-1) n_(2) =5`
` 1/24 n_(2) =5 " " therefore n_(2) = 5xx 24 =120 Hz`
`n_(1) = n_(2) + 5 = 125 Hz`
The frequencies of the two tuning forks are 125 Hz and 120 Hz.
