A particle is subjected to two simple harmonic motions given by
`x_(1) = 2.0sin (100 pi t)` and `x_(2) = 2.0sin (120pi t + pi //3)`
where, `x` is in `cm` and `t` in second. Find the displacement of the particle at
(a) `t = 0.0125`,
(b) `t = 0.025`.

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
A, B, C, D

(a) `x = x_(1) + x_(2)`
At `t = 0.0125 s`
`x_(1) = - sqrt(2)cm`
and `x_(2) = - 1cm`
`:. x = x_(1) + x_(2) = - 2.41 cm`
(b) At `t = 0.025s`.
`x_(1) = 2cm`
and `x_(2) = - 1.73cm`
`:. x = x_(1) + x_(2)`
`= 0.27cm`
