Find the value of discriminant for each ...

Find the value of discriminant for each of the following equations.
`sqrt(5)x^(2)-x-sqrt(5)=0`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
`Delta=21`

Comparing `sqrt5x^(2)-x-sqrt5=0` with `ax^(2)+bx+c=0,a=sqrt5,b=-1,c=-sqrt5`.
`Delta=b^(2)-4ac=(-1)^(2)-4(sqrt5)(-sqrt5)`
=1+20=21.
