In the following common emitter configuration an `NPN` transistor with current gain `beta=100` is used. The output voltage of the amlifier will be

A

`10 mV`

B

`0.1 V`

C

`1.0 V`

D

`10 V`

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
C

(c ) Current gain is defined as the ratio of collector current to base current, that is
`beta = (i_(C ))/(i_(B)) = (V_(0))/(V_(i))`
where `V_(0)` is output voltage and `V_(1)` is input voltage.
Given, `beta = 100, V_(i) = 10^(-2) V`
`implies V_(0) beta V_(i) = 100 xx 10^(-2) = 1 V`
Note : In common-emitter mode, the input and output signals are in opposite phase, while in the commonbase mode, the output and input signals are in same phase.
