Give the expression for the vibrational energy of molecules?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Vibrational energy of a molecule has both kinetic and potential energy modcs connected by vibrational variables of motion viz y and `((dy)/(dt))`.
i.e. Vibrational energy = `(1)/(2)m((dy)/(dt))^(2)+(1)/(2)K_(r)y^(2) where `K_(r)` is a force constant of the oscillator and y the vibrational coordinates.
