In an n-p-n transistor circuit, the collector current is 10mA. If 90% of the electrons emitted reach the collector, the emitter current `(I_(E ))` and base current `(I_(B))` are given by

A

`I_e = 9mA , I_b=-1mA`

B

`I_e = -1mA , I_b=9mA`

C

`I_e = 1mA , I_b=11mA`

D

`I_e = 11mA , I_b=1mA`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

`i_c=10 mA = 0.9 I_e`
`i_e=10/(0.9)=11 mA`
Now , `i_e=i_c+i_b`
`:. i_b=I_e-i_c=11-10=1mA`
