the diode will conduct during half cycle when it is forward biased Let `V_(B)` be the parrier potential resistance of the diode and load respectively
`V_(0) ` be the peak voltage applied
Effective potential difference across the circuit = `V_(0) - V_(B)`
For ideal diode `R_(D) = 0 rArr V_(B) = 0`
`i_(0) = (V_(0))/( R_(L)) = (20)/( 500) = 0.04 A`
Since there is no resistance offered by the diode when across the load resisitance only
`V_(B) = V_(0) = 20 V`
