What is the significance of thermostable DNA polymerase during PCR ? From where is this DNA polymerase extracted ?

During PCR, repeated amplification of DNA is achieved usign thermo-stable DNA polymerase which remains active during high temperature induced denaturation of double stranded DNA. The enzyme is isolated from a bacterium Thermus aquatiocus.
