Explain why we can see images on polished and smooth surfaces.

In regular reflection, all rays of light falling on the surface strike it at an equal angle of incidence. Due to this, all the reflected rays coming out of the surface also have an equal angle of reflection, thus forming a set of parallel reflected rays. Regular reflection gives rise to clear and sharp images of the objects. This is why we can see images in polished and smooth surfaces, such as in a mirror, in a clean steel plate, in the still water of a pond and on the door of a polished car. However, it also causes glare.
