Common salt obtained from sea water contains `95% NaCl` by mass. The appoximate number of molecules present in `10.0g` of the salt is

A

`10^(21)`

B

`10^(22)`

C

`10^(23)`

D

`10^(24)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
C

58.5 g of NaCl contains `6.022 xx 10^(23)` molecules .
10 g will contain `1.03 xx 10^(23)` molecules of NaCl.
Since it contain 95% NaCl, so , total number of molecules `= (95)/(100) xx 1.03 xx 10^(23) = 0.98 x 10^(23) or 10^(23)`
