In `AlCl_(3)`, Al has only six electrons in the valence shell. Therefore it needs two more electrons to complete its octet. To do so, it accept a lone pair of electrons from the Cl atom of another `AlCl_(3)` molecule as shown. As a result , `AlCl_(3)` exiss as a dimer.
