UP Class 12 Physics Syllabus & Exam Pattern (2026)

According to the UP Board Class 12 Physics Syllabus & Exam Pattern for 2026, students must demonstrate conceptual clarity, numerical problem-solving skills, diagram-based understanding, and the ability to present scientific explanations clearly. A proper study plan that includes NCERT textbooks, previous year papers, derivation practice, and sample tests will help students easily score 60+ marks in the theory exam.

The UP Board timetable indicates that the Class 12 Physics Exam will be held in February 2026, with an exam time of 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. This complete guide includes the full exam pattern, marks distribution, and the official unit-wise UP Board Physics syllabus.

UP Class 12 Physics Exam Pattern 2026

In UP Board, Physics carries 100 marks, divided into:

  • 70 Marks – Theory Exam
  • 30 Marks – Practical/Internal Assessment

The question paper includes objective, short answer, numerical, and long answer questions.

2.0Preparation Strategy for Scoring 60–70+ in UP Board Physics

Below are UP Board-optimized strategies.

A. Focus on High-Weightage Units

Units like Optics, Magnetism, EMI, and Electrostatics carry more than 50% of the marks. Study these units first and revise weekly.

High-scoring chapters include:

  • Ray optics diagrams
  • AC circuits
  • Capacitors
  • Lens formula & prism numericals
  • Wheatstone bridge & potentiometer
  • EM waves basics

B. Effective Practice Techniques

  1. Solve NCERT Exercises Thoroughly - 80% of UP Board questions come directly or indirectly from NCERT.
  2. Practice Derivations Twice - Important derivations:
  • Lens maker’s formula
  • Drift velocity
  • Induced EMF (Faraday’s law)
  • AC circuit impedance & resonance
  1. Maintain a Formula + Units Handbook - Daily revision avoids last-minute confusion.
  2. Solve at Least 10 Sample Papers - Improves speed and accuracy.
  3. Practice Diagrams Neatly - UP Board gives easy marks for neat ray diagrams and circuit diagrams.
