Is NEET (UG) 2025 Exam Mode Online? Here's What We Know

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) is a nationwide exam for admission to undergraduate medical courses. Lakhs and lakhs of students dream of cracking the medical entrance exam. To date, it has been a traditional Offline, pen-and-paper-based test type. Due to security concerns, there may be a shift to a digital format, making the exam more reliable and efficient.

Note: There has yet to be an official word from NTA regarding the mode shift to online for NEET 2025. The NEET (UG) 2025 will be conducted in the first week of May 2025.

1.0Why the Online Buzz?

The increasing use of online examinations in various institutions may create speculation that NEET should be conducted online. Other major entrance exams in India, such as the JEE, GATE, and CAT, use computer-based formats, which enhance transparency and result handling. Transitioning NEET-UG to a Computer-Based Test (CBT) could improve its transparency and data security. But then again, one would have to remember the numbers in NEET and the many students appearing; logistics for such a mass online examination with reliable internet connectivity across the country would be a big challenge.
