Frequently Asked Questions

Students must score a minimum of 33% marks in each subject (combined theory and internal assessment) to pass the GSHSEB SSC examination.

GSHSEB-prescribed textbooks are the primary reference. Navneet publications and other GSHSEB-approved guides are widely recommended for supplementary practice in Gujarat.

A focused, consistent routine of 6–8 hours daily is recommended, distributed across all subjects.

Extremely important. They reveal frequently tested topics, the objective vs. descriptive split in each subject, and help you practice within the 3-hour time limit.

Ideally, begin final revision 2–3 weeks before February 26. Focus on model papers, short notes, and revisiting weak areas.

Unlike some other state boards, GSHSEB SSC does not have separate practical examinations for most subjects. All assessment is through the 80-mark theory paper and 20-mark internal assessment conducted at the school level.

Top Preparation Tips for GSHSEB Class 10 Exams

The Gujarat Board Class 10 examination, conducted by the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB), is one of the most important academic milestones for students in Gujarat. With lakhs of students appearing every year, smart and structured preparation is key to scoring well. The tips below are based on official GSHSEB guidelines and expert recommendations.

1.0Understand the GSHSEB Class 10 Exam Pattern

Before starting preparation, understand the GSHSEB SSC exam pattern thoroughly. Each subject carries 100 marks — 80 marks for the theory paper and 20 marks for internal assessment. The theory paper (80 marks) consists of Part A (objective-type questions) and Part B (descriptive questions). There are no separate practical exams for GSHSEB SSC subjects — all assessment is through the theory paper and internal assessment. Students must score a minimum of 33% marks in each subject (combined theory and internal) to pass. Exam duration is 3 hours (10:00 AM to 1:15 PM) in a single morning session. GSHSEB SSC exams are conducted in offline (pen-and-paper) mode.

2.0Create a Study Schedule

  • Download the official GSHSEB SSC syllabus from GSHSEBeservice.com and prepare a subject-wise checklist of all chapters and units.
  • Allocate dedicated daily study hours to each subject, giving extra time to subjects where you are weaker.
  • Set weekly targets — decide which chapters to complete each week and review progress.
  • Reserve the final 2–3 weeks before exams exclusively for revision and model paper practice.
  • Be consistent — a focused daily routine is far more effective than last-minute cramming.

3.0Prioritising Topics while Preparing for Class 10 GSHSEB Exam

  • Go through the GSHSEB blueprint for each subject to identify high-weightage units — available on GSHSEBeservice.com.
  • In Mathematics (Standard), prioritise Algebra (14 chapters total), Geometry, Trigonometry, and Statistics as these carry the highest marks consistently.
  • In Science & Technology, focus on chapters related to Electricity, Light, Chemical Reactions, Metals, and Reproduction as these are frequently examined.
  • In Social Science, map-based questions in Geography and movements in History carry predictable marks and should be practised thoroughly.
  • In Gujarati (First Language), grammar sections and writing tasks (essays, letters, comprehension) are high-scoring areas.
  • In English, focus on composition, grammar, comprehension passages, and prescribed textbook chapters.
  • Complete difficult chapters first so that you have ample time for revision before the exam.

4.0Mock Tests and Previous Papers for GSHSEB Class 10 Exams

  • Simulate real exam conditions: Solve each paper within exactly 3 hours (10:00 AM to 1:15 PM) without notes or interruptions.
  • Analyse performance: After each attempt, review errors in both the objective (Part A) and descriptive (Part B) sections.
  • Practice at least 5–7 years of GSHSEB SSC previous year question papers for all your subjects.
  • Use GSHSEB model papers from GSHSEBeservice.com to familiarise yourself with the current blueprint and paper structure.
  • Track scores across practice sessions to monitor improvement and identify subjects needing more attention.
  • Increase the frequency of timed practice as February 26 approaches.

5.0Revise Regularly

  • Maintain a subject-wise revision notebook with key formulas, definitions, important dates, maps, and grammar rules.
  • Revise completed chapters at least once a week to retain them throughout the year.
  • In the final 2–3 weeks before exams, focus entirely on revision — go through short notes, practise objective-type questions, and re-attempt weak topics.
  • For Mathematics, practise problem types daily and revise all formulas and theorems.
  • For Science & Technology, redraw labelled diagrams from memory and practise chemical equations.
  • For language subjects, practise writing tasks (letters, essays) and grammar exercises regularly.

6.0Maintain Physical & Mental Health

  • Get 7–8 hours of sleep nightly. Sleep is critical for memory retention and sustained focus.
  • Take short breaks of 10–15 minutes after every hour of study.
  • Eat balanced, nutritious meals throughout the preparation period.
  • Include light physical activity in your daily routine to manage stress.
  • Avoid last-minute panic. If stressed, speak to a teacher, parent, or trusted adult.
  • The night before each exam, do a light revision of short notes and sleep early.

7.0Seek Guidance When Needed

  • Approach subject teachers whenever you have doubts — do not let them accumulate.
  • Form study groups with classmates to discuss difficult chapters and quiz each other.
  • Refer to official GSHSEB resources including model papers and blueprints available at GSHSEBeservice.com.
  • Use trusted reference books such as Navneet or other GSHSEB-approved guides for supplementary practice.
  • If extra support is needed, consult coaching classes or online resources for subjects you find challenging.

8.0Summary

  • Understand the GSHSEB SSC exam pattern: 80 marks theory + 20 marks internal assessment, 100 marks per subject, 3 hours duration, 33% to pass.
  • Build and follow a consistent, subject-wise study schedule.
  • Prioritise high-weightage chapters using the official GSHSEB blueprint.
  • Solve at least 5–7 years of previous year papers and GSHSEB model papers under timed conditions.
  • Revise regularly using subject-wise short notebooks.
  • Maintain good physical and mental health throughout preparation.
  • Seek guidance from teachers and use official GSHSEB resources from GSHSEBeservice.com.
