BSEB Class 12 Maths Syllabus & Exam Pattern: Complete Guide (2026)

Each academic session, the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) publishes the new Class 12 Maths syllabus and exam format to provide students with an adequate opportunity to efficiently plan their exam preparation based on the syllabus. The syllabus for the 2025–26 session has also been developed to provide more clarity to students on improving mathematical thinking, analytical thinking, and problem-solving while benefiting students in the areas of higher education and competitive exams (JEE, NDA, CUET, Polytechnic entrances and various state-level engineering exams).

Understanding the syllabus and the exam format is the first step towards having a smart plan for studying. Once students understand what to study, which chapters are more essential to study based on marks, and how questions are formed, speed and accuracy can increase in the exam. In the blog, a full guide to BSEB Class 12 Maths syllabus, marking scheme, weightage, timeline of chapters, and preparation tips to build confidence and diminish exam-related stress is available.

1.0What’s New in the BSEB Class 12 Maths Syllabus 2026

Every year, the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) modifies its Intermediate Maths syllabus according to NCERT Class 12 Mathematics. The syllabus 2026 resembles its predecessor but includes higher emphases on the applications of concepts, structured reasoning, and critical thinking. The syllabus features 7 key units consisting of Relations & Functions, Algebra, Calculus, Vectors, 3D Geometry, Linear Programming, and Probability, and all remain vital for the board exams and entrance exams.

The board also kept the evaluation structure of 100 marks; 50 marks for multiple-choice questions (MCQs) (OMR) and 50 Subjective answers. Students should note that Calculus, Algebra, and Probability comprise around 60% of the syllabus; therefore, these chapters' importance is far greater for revision. The question paper's assessment also covers stepwise marking, logical reasoning, algebraic manipulation, diagrammatic representation (in the cases of LPP and 3D Geometry), and clarity of problem solving.

Step 2: Complete NCERT and BSEB textbook exercises

These form the base of MCQs and subjective questions.

Step 3: Make a formula notebook

Include:

  • Derivatives
  • Integration methods
  • Properties of determinants
  • Probability rules

Step 4: Solve previous year papers

Try completing 5–10 years of PYQs.

Step 5: Take weekly mock tests

Simulate exam environment with a 3-hour timer.

Step 6: Focus on step-wise solutions
