The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) is the only way to get into MBBS, BDS, and other medical courses in India. After the NEET results are announced, candidates look forward to the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) counseling process. MCC NEET UG Counselling is in charge of getting people into 15% of All India Quota seats, AIIMS, JIPMER, ESIC, Central Universities, and Deemed Universities.

1.0What is MCC NEET UG Counselling?
The MCC provides counselling
- 15% of All India Quota (AIQ) seats in all Government Medical/Dental Colleges, except for those in Jammu & Kashmir, unless candidates choose AIQ.
- All of the seats in Deemed Universities, Central Universities (like AMU, BHU, DU, JMI), AIIMS, JIPMER, and ESIC colleges are full.
- B.Sc Nursing seats in certain central institutions.
The official MCC website is where the counselling process takes place. Seat allocation is based on NEET UG 2025 scores, the choices made by candidates, and any reservation policies that apply.
2.0NEET UG 2025 Counselling: Important Dates (Tentative)
The NEET UG 2025 exam was held on May 4, 2025 and results were announced by June 14, 2025. Therefore, the MCC NEET UG counselling process will be starting very shortly.

3.0Eligibility Criteria for MCC NEET UG Counselling 2025
To participate in the MCC NEET UG counselling, candidates must meet the following criteria:
NEET UG Qualification: Must have appeared and qualified the NEET UG 2025 examination by scoring equal to or above the minimum qualifying percentile set by NTA.
- General/EWS: 50th percentile (approx. 686-144 marks)
- OBC/SC/ST: 40th percentile (approx. 143-113 marks)
- UR/EWS-PwD: 45th percentile (approx. 143-127 marks)
- OBC/SC/ST-PwD: 40th percentile (approx. 126-113 marks)
Nationality: Indian Nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), and Foreign Nationals are eligible.
Age Limit: Must have completed 17 years of age as on December 31, 2025. There is currently no upper age limit for NEET UG.
Educational Qualification: Must have passed 10+2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects.
Minimum Marks:
- General Category: 50% aggregate marks in PCB.
- OBC/SC/ST: 40% aggregate marks in PCB.
- UR-PwD: 45% aggregate marks in PCB.
MCC Registration: Mandatory online registration on the MCC portal within the stipulated time frame for each round.
Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) Candidates: J&K candidates are generally not eligible for 15% AIQ seats unless they submit a self-declaration for AIQ seats during their NEET application. They are eligible for admission to Deemed Universities.
4.0MCC NEET UG Counselling Process: Step-by-Step Guide
The MCC NEET UG counselling process is conducted online in multiple rounds. Here’s a detailed breakdown:
Step 1: Online Registration
- Visit the official MCC website: mcc.nic.in.
- Click on the "New Registration 2025" tab (or similar link for UG Medical Counselling).
- Read the instructions carefully and agree to the terms and conditions.
- Enter mandatory details such as NEET UG Roll Number, NEET UG Application Number, Candidate's Name, Mother's Name, Date of Birth, and Security Pin.
- Generate your login credentials. These will be sent to your registered email address and mobile number.
- Log in and fill out the detailed registration form, including personal, educational, NEET result, and other relevant information.
- Upload scanned copies of your photograph and signature as per the specified guidelines (e.g., Passport photo: 10-200 KB JPG; Signature: 4-30 KB JPG).
Step 2: Payment of Counselling Fees
After successful registration, proceed to pay the non-refundable registration fee and the refundable security deposit online. Payment can be made using Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.
Fee Structure (Expected for 2025, based on previous years):
For 15% AIQ/Central Universities/AIIMS/JIPMER/ESIC/B.Sc Nursing:
- Non-Refundable Registration Fee: ₹1,000 (General/EWS), ₹500 (SC/ST/OBC/PwD)
- Refundable Security Deposit: ₹10,000 (All Categories)
For Deemed Universities:
- Non-Refundable Registration Fee: ₹5,000 (All Categories)
- Refundable Security Deposit: ₹2,00,000 (All Categories)
Note: If opting for both AIQ and Deemed Universities, candidates only need to pay the higher security deposit (₹2,00,000).

Step 3: Choice Filling and Locking
- Log in to the MCC portal with your credentials.
- Make your choices of colleges and courses (MBBS/BDS) in the order you desire. Preferably do this only after you complete a thorough research of colleges.
- Candidates can add, delete, and re-order their choices as many times as they want before the closing date.
- Once you are happy with your choices, you will lock your choices. If the choices are not locked manually by the deadline the system will lock your choices based on the last saved ones.
- Print your locked choices.
Step 4: Seat Allotment Result
- MCC will conduct the seat allotment process according to NEET UG 2025 ranks, choices made by students, and policy for reservation of seats.
- The first set of results is usually called the Provisional seat allotment result, and the second result is the final allotment state.
- To check your seat allotment status, and download the provisional allotment letter, log into your account on the MCC website.
Step 5: Reporting to Allotted College (Document Verification & Admission)
- Download your provisional allocation letter if you are happy with the seat that has been assigned to you.
- On the designated days, report to the designated college to complete the admissions procedures and document verification.
- "Free Exit" Option (Round 1): An applicant may leave without losing their security deposit if they are given a seat in Round 1 but decide they do not want to enroll.
- Option "Forfeiture Exit" (Round 2): A candidate's security deposit will be lost if they are given a seat in Round 2 but choose not to participate.
- Upgrading: In Round 2, candidates who secured a seat in Round 1 may choose to upgrade. The old seat is automatically forfeited if a new one is assigned. The seat from Round 1 is kept if there is no improvement.
- No Exit from Mop-Up Round: Candidates are typically not allowed to leave the Mop-Up Round once they have been assigned a seat and joined, and they are also not eligible for State Counseling or any other counseling rounds.
Step 6: Further Rounds
- Round 2: For applicants who choose to upgrade or were not given a seat in Round 1. If you were already registered for Round 1, you usually don't need to register again.
- Round 3: Mop-Up Round: Held for seats left empty following Round 2, mostly for Central and Deemed Universities. Certain types of candidates who were not registered in prior rounds or who lost their deposits may be eligible to register again.
- Stray Vacancy Round: The Final round, held at the institutional level by the individual colleges, for any seats left over after the Mop-Up Round. Generally speaking, only candidates who have already registered with MCC and have not been assigned a seat in prior rounds are eligible; new registrations are not permitted.
5.0Documents Required for MCC NEET UG Counselling 2025
Candidates must keep both original and multiple photocopies of the following documents ready for verification at the time of reporting to the allotted college:
- NEET UG 2025 Admit Card
- NEET UG 2025 Scorecard/Rank Letter
- Provisional Allotment Letter (downloaded from MCC website)
- Class 10th Certificate (for Date of Birth proof)
- Class 12th Mark Sheet
- Class 12th Passing Certificate
- Valid Photo ID Proof (Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Driving License, Passport, etc.)
- Passport-size photographs (8 copies, same as affixed on the application form)
- Caste Certificate (if applicable - SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS certificate issued by a competent authority in the prescribed format)
- OBC-NCL certificate must be issued on or after April 1, 2025.
- EWS certificate must be issued on or after April 1, 2025, based on the financial year 2024-25.
