Chapter 5 Changes around us: physical and chemical

CBSE Notes Class 7 Science Chapter 5 Changes Around Us: Physical and Chemical

In our daily life, we observe many changes happening around us. Some changes are temporary, while others are permanent. This chapter helps students understand the difference between physical and chemical changes and how they affect substances.

A physical change is a change in which no new substance is formed. These changes are usually reversible, which means we can get the original substance back. A chemical change, on the other hand, results in the formation of a new substance with different properties. These changes are usually irreversible.

Students learn how to identify these changes based on certain signs such as change in color, formation of gas, release of heat or light, and formation of a new substance. Understanding these changes helps students relate science to everyday life. It also develops their ability to observe carefully and think logically.
