1.0Overview of CBSE Syllabus for Class 10 Hindi

The CBSE Syllabus for Class 10 Hindi is divided into four major portions, each designed to assess the overall proficiency of students in the language:

  • Reading Comprehension (अपठित बोध)
  • Grammar (व्यावहारिक व्याकरण)
  • Literature (पाठ्यपुस्तक एवं पूरक पाठ्यपुस्तक)
  • Writing Skills (रचनात्मक लेखन)  

Each of these portions assesses the students' creativity, critical thinking, and grammatical skills through a theoretical exam of 80 marks and an internal assessment of 20 marks.

This course is designed for students with a stronger foundation and deeper interest in Hindi literature.

I. अपठित बोध (Unseen Comprehension) - 10 Marks

  • अपठित गद्यांश (Unseen Prose Passage): 1 passage (5 marks) - Based on factual, descriptive, or literary text.
  • अपठित काव्यांश (Unseen Poetry Excerpt): 1 excerpt (5 marks) - Based on a poem.
    • Questions will be objective (MCQs).

II. व्याकरण (Grammar) - 16 Marks

  • रचना के आधार पर वाक्य भेद (Sentence Transformation based on Structure): 4 marks
  • वाच्य (Voice - Active and Passive): 4 marks
  • पद परिचय (Introduction to Parts of Speech): 4 marks
  • अलंकार (Figures of Speech): 4 marks
    • Questions will be objective (MCQs).

III. पाठ्यपुस्तकें (Textbooks) - 34 Marks

  • पत्र लेखन (Letter Writing): 5 marks (Formal or Informal, choose 1 out of 2).
  • स्ववृत्त लेखन / औपचारिक ई-मेल लेखन (Resume Writing / Formal E-mail Writing): 5 marks (choose 1 out of 2).
  • विज्ञापन लेखन / संदेश लेखन (Advertisement Writing / Message Writing): 4 marks (choose 1 out of 2, approx. 30-40 words).

4.0Internal Assessment (आंतरिक मूल्यांकन)

The Internal assessment evaluates a student's overall performance beyond the final exam, throughout the academic year. The assessment is divided into four major portions, each carrying 5 marks, totalling 20 marks. Here’s how these 20 marks are distributed among different components:
