The CBSE Class 9 Hindi Syllabus for the 2026–27 academic session has been revised in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023. The updated curriculum adopts a competency-based approach that goes beyond memorizing concepts, helping students strengthen their communication skills, literary understanding, grammar, and creative expression.
The syllabus focuses on developing listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities through activity-based learning. It also encourages students to analyse literary texts, apply grammar in real-life contexts, and express their ideas confidently through different forms of writing. With a balanced combination of language skills, literature, and internal assessment, the revised syllabus prepares students for academic success while building practical communication skills.
1.0Introduction to CBSE Syllabus for Class 9 Hindi
The updated CBSE Class 9 Hindi Syllabus is divided into four major learning areas that together help develop language skills, analytical thinking, and creative writing. The curriculum encourages practical use of language through reading, discussions, presentations and writing activities, rather than just textbook learning.
The syllabus includes the following learning areas:
- श्रवण, वाचन एवं अपठित बोध (Listening, Reading & Comprehension)

Students are evaluated through an 80-mark annual examination and a 20-mark internal assessment, ensuring equal importance is given to conceptual understanding, language skills, classroom participation, and creative learning.

3.0Detailed CBSE Syllabus for Class 9 Hindi
As per the latest CBSE circular and the implementation of NEP 2020, entirely new Hindi textbooks and a revised syllabus are currently under development by NCERT for the 2026-27 session. We are closely monitoring the official releases. Once the new curriculum and textbooks are available on the official NCERT or CBSE websites, we will immediately update this page with new marking scheme, chapter list and pattern.
गद्य खंड (Prose)
Chapter 1: दो बैलों की कथा
A heartwarming story of two oxen that portrays friendship, loyalty, self-respect, and sacrifice. It also reflects the emotional bond between humans and animals while conveying important moral values.
Chapter 2: क्या लिखूँ?
The chapter presents a writer's dilemma while choosing a meaningful topic to write about. It focuses on imagination, creativity, and the importance of expressing ideas through writing.
Chapter 3: संवादहीन
The chapter deals with the absence of communication and its impact on relationships. It explains how understanding and open conversations help build trust and resolve misunderstandings.
Chapter 4: ऐसी भी बातें होती हैं
A collection of interesting incidents that encourages readers to look beyond ordinary experiences. The chapter presents situations that inspire curiosity, observation, and logical thinking.
Chapter 5: आखिरी चट्टान तक
Based on a travel experience, this chapter describes natural landscapes, adventure, and the determination required to overcome challenges while appreciating nature's beauty.
Chapter 6: रीढ़ की हड्डी
A one-act play centered on social values, self-respect, and equality. It questions outdated traditions and presents the importance of confidence and independent thinking.
Chapter 7: मैं और मेरा देश
The chapter reflects the relationship between an individual and the nation. It discusses patriotism, civic responsibility, and the contribution of citizens towards the country's development.
काव्य खंड (Poetry)
Chapter 8: रैदास के पद
The verses of Sant Ravidas convey the ideals of equality, devotion, humility, and a society free from discrimination through simple yet powerful poetic expressions.
Chapter 9: राम-लक्ष्मण-परशुराम संवाद
Drawn from the Ramayana, this poem presents an engaging conversation between Lord Rama, Lakshmana, and Parashurama, showcasing courage, wisdom, and respect.
Chapter 10: भारति, जय, विजयकरे!
A patriotic poem dedicated to Mother India that celebrates the nation's cultural richness, strength, and aspirations for progress and unity.
Chapter 11: झाँसी की रानी
The poem narrates the bravery, determination, and sacrifice of Rani Lakshmibai during India's First War of Independence, making it one of the most inspiring patriotic compositions.
Chapter 12: घर की याद
This poem expresses the emotions of longing, belonging, and affection for one's home, beautifully portraying the memories and comfort associated with family and homeland.
