CBSE Syllabus for Class 9 Hindi

CBSE Syllabus for Class 9 Hindi 2025 – 2026

Hindi in Class 9 can go beyond just textbook learning when approached the right way. The CBSE syllabus for Class 9 Hindi is formulated such that it not only makes students memorise the grammar rules but also helps them understand and apply them by heart.

From the CBSE syllabus for class 9 Hindi grammar course B to the overall syllabus of course A, you will get everything you need to score well in both terms.

1.0Introduction to CBSE Syllabus for Class 9 Hindi

The Central Board of Secondary Education offers two course options for Hindi in class 9, namely:

  • Hindi Course A – It is more of a literature-focused variant of Hindi, meaning it goes deeper into the prose and poetry.
  • Hindi Course B – This is a language-based variant that emphasises grammar and writing skills in Hindi.

Students are advised to carefully follow the syllabus based on the course they have chosen at the time of registration.

The CBSE Class 9 Syllabus Hindi for both its variants is divided into four units, which include:

  • अपठित बोध (Unseen Passages)
  • व्यावहारिक व्याकरण (Grammar)
  • पाठ्यपुस्तक एवं पूरक पाठ्यपुस्तक (Literature)
  • रचनात्मक लेखन (Creative Writing)

Each of these units in the syllabus is designed to assess students' creativity, critical thinking, and Hindi vocabulary skills throughout the academic session. Both variants of Hindi include evaluation of students via two-term examinations and internal assessment of a maximum of 80 and 20 marks, respectively.

5.0Study Smarter: Resources That Go the Extra Mile

While books are the focus of learning, Class 9 Hindi requires a more comprehensive and strategic approach to understand literature, refine grammar, and master writing completely. Luckily, there are a number of other resources that can put your preparation on steroids:

  1. NCERT Solutions: Your go-to source for clarity. They make it easy to dissect chapter notes, definitions of tricky words, and step-by-step solutions to textbook questions—ideal for mastering the very style CBSE seeks.
  2. CBSE Support Material: These are specifically crafted to strictly follow the new CBSE Class 9 Hindi syllabus and encompass sample papers, marking schemes, and chapter-wise important questions. They're particularly helpful before exams for focused revision.
  3. Chapter Summaries & Mind Maps: Mind maps, flowcharts, and summaries in visual form facilitate easy recall of the plot, characters, themes, and morals of prose and poetry chapters.
  4. Grammar Worksheets: Worksheets on संधि, समास, उपसर्ग-प्रत्यय, and वाक्य रचना can be used to reinforce concepts with repetition practice.
  5. ALS Practice Sets: Listening and speaking exercises are the key to internal assessment. Voice modulation, reading practice, and narration from syllabus topics can enhance your marks.
  6. Sample Letters, Essays, and Reports: Exposing students to different types of writing, as per CBSE norms, instils confidence in the writing section.
  7. Reference Books: Good reference books offer more exercises, explanations of grammar, and other questions that provide deeper insights and familiarise students with a greater variety of exam-type content.

6.0Common Mistakes Students Make in Hindi Exams

Knowing the Class 9 Hindi syllabus is imperative, but not committing common mistakes is also necessary for obtaining high marks. The following are some common errors:

  1. Spelling Errors: Wrong spellings (particularly in Matras and joining letters) are one of the key reasons for losing marks in Hindi.
  2. Weak Expression in Writing Tasks: Letter writing, essays, and dialogues usually lack structure, clarity, or originality.
  3. Poor Time Management: Taking too long over comprehension or long-answer questions can lead students to miss small but scoring ones.
  4. Straying from the Topic: Learners, at times, go off-topic during creative writing. It is important to adhere to syllabus-recommended themes.

Tip: Practice on a regular basis, practice writing mock answers, and consult NCERT solutions following the syllabus will prevent these errors.
