Frequently Asked Questions

Is JEE Main compulsory for engineering admission under the Assam State Quota?

The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Assam conducts the counselling process, while the Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU) conducts the Assam CEE examination.

Candidates from other states may apply if they satisfy the eligibility conditions prescribed by the authorities. However, reservation benefits under the Assam State Quota are generally available only to eligible Assam domicile candidates.

If seats remain vacant after the regular counselling rounds, the authorities may conduct spot counselling to fill the remaining seats based on the Assam CEE merit list and applicable admission rules.

Some of the top participating institutes include Assam Engineering College (AEC), Jorhat Engineering College (JEC), Jorhat Institute of Science and Technology (JIST), Bineswar Brahma Engineering College (BBEC), Golaghat Engineering College (GEC), and Barak Valley Engineering College (BVEC). Admissions to these colleges are based on the Assam CEE merit rank.

Assam State Quota in JEE Counselling 2026

The Assam State Quota in JEE Counselling refers to the admission process for B.Tech. programmes conducted through the Assam Combined Entrance Examination (Assam CEE) Counselling 2026. The counselling is organized by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Assam, for admissions to Government Engineering Colleges across the state, while the entrance examination is conducted by the Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU).

Unlike JoSAA Counselling, which is conducted for admissions to IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs using JEE Main and JEE Advanced ranks, Assam State Quota admissions are primarily based on Assam CEE ranks. Candidates seeking admission to Government engineering colleges in Assam must qualify the Assam CEE 2026 and participate in the centralized counselling process. The Assam CEE 2026 result has already been declared, and the counselling process is expected to begin shortly.
