Frequently Asked Questions

No. JEE Main scores are not considered for Government Quota engineering admissions in Telangana. Admissions under the Telangana State Quota are based on TG EAPCET ranks through the counselling conducted by the Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE). However, JEE Main scores are accepted for admissions to NITs through JoSAA and by some private universities or institutional quota seats.

Candidates who qualify TG EAPCET 2026 and satisfy the Telangana local candidature (local area) requirements prescribed by TGCHE are eligible to participate in the Telangana State Quota counselling. They must also meet the academic eligibility criteria and complete the online counselling process within the specified deadlines.

Several Government, University, Autonomous, and Private Engineering Colleges participate in TG EAPCET counselling. Some of the leading institutes include JNTUH University College of Engineering, Osmania University College of Engineering, CBIT Hyderabad, Vasavi College of Engineering, VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering & Technology, GRIET, and CVR College of Engineering.

The TG EAPCET counselling process is generally conducted in multiple phases, including Phase I, Phase II, Final Phase, and Spot Admissions (for vacant seats, if applicable). Candidates who are not allotted a seat in one phase or wish to upgrade their allotted college or branch can participate in the subsequent counselling rounds as per the official schedule.

Yes. Candidates from other states may apply for TG EAPCET counselling if they meet the prescribed eligibility conditions. However, reservation benefits under the Telangana State Quota are generally available only to eligible local candidates, while non-local candidates are considered according to the admission rules notified by TGCHE. Candidates should refer to the official counselling guidelines for the latest eligibility provisions.

Telangana State Quota in JEE Counselling 2026

The Telangana State Quota in JEE Counselling refers to the admission process for undergraduate engineering courses conducted through the Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture and Pharmacy Common Entrance Test (TG EAPCET) Counselling 2026. The counselling is organized by the Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) for admission to Government, University, Autonomous, and Private Engineering Colleges across Telangana.

Unlike JoSAA Counselling, which allocates seats in IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) using JEE Main and JEE Advanced ranks, the Telangana State Quota admissions are primarily based on TG EAPCET ranks. JEE Main scores are not used for Government Quota seats under TG EAPCET counselling, although a few private universities and institutions may separately accept JEE Main scores for institutional or All India seats.

The TG EAPCET 2026 counselling process has already commenced, with registration beginning on 19 June 2026, followed by certificate verification, web options, mock allotment, and multiple counselling phases.
