The ICQ is syllabus-free, meaning it doesn't strictly follow a specific curriculum. It consists of multiple-choice questions designed to be fun and engaging. The International Chemistry Quiz (ICQ) 2024 has a simple exam process as it's a quiz, not a formal exam. Only teachers and staff at a verified school, homeschool, or coaching clinic can register students in RACI ICQ competitions.

• High Distinction - Awarded to a student who is in the top 10% of their year and region.
• Distinction - Awarded to a student who is in the next 20% of their year and region.
• Credit - Awarded to a student who is in the next 20% of their year and region.
• Participation - Awarded to a student who has participated in the competition and received no higher award.
• Prize - Students who obtain a perfect score of 30 out of 30 receive a Lapel Pin.
