3.0ICQ Exam Pattern

The ICQ is syllabus-free, meaning it doesn't strictly follow a specific curriculum. It consists of multiple-choice questions designed to be fun and engaging. The questions aim to assess a broad range of fundamental chemistry concepts. Some questions might require applying these concepts to new situations, encouraging critical thinking.

Here is a brief overview of the ICQ exam format:

  • The ICQ is a multiple-choice question quiz.
  • Typically, there are 30 questions to be answered within a 60-minute time limit.
  • There's no negative marking, so it's better to attempt all questions even if you need clarification.
  • Scientific calculators and rough-working paper are permitted. Smart devices are not allowed.

4.0ICQ Exam Eligibility Criteria

The International Chemistry Quiz (ICQ) has straightforward eligibility criteria based on age. Students from the following six age divisions are eligible to participate in the quiz:

  • Junior Division 1 (Ages 12 - 13 / Grade 7)
  • Junior Division 2 (Ages 13 - 14 / Grade 8)

Below are some tips for the participants to do well in the quiz.

  • There's no set syllabus, but refreshing your knowledge of fundamental Chemistry concepts is beneficial.
  • Past papers (if available) might give you an idea of the question style and difficulty level.
  • The ICQ website doesn't offer specific preparation materials, but general Chemistry textbooks and resources can be helpful.

7.0International Chemistry Quiz Results and Recognition

After the quiz, the answer sheets are collected and marked. Individual student results are typically communicated through the participating schools. Winners at various levels (such as school and national) may receive certificates or recognition from the organizers.

Below, we have provided brief information about the international Chemistry Quiz Awards and Certificates:

All students receive an award according to the criteria below:

  • Excellent - Awarded to a student who has 100% correct answered.
