5.0International Mathematical Olympiad Eligibility Criteria for Class 9
There are no minimum mark requirements. Therefore, students in grade 9 are eligible to compete in the International Mathematical Olympiad first level. To proceed to the second level, students should fulfil the requirements listed below:
- Rank in the top 5% of the class on the first-level exam scores.
- Be among the top 25 rank holders from each class in every zone.
- Be the highest scorer in their class at schools with at least 10 participants who secure 50% or more qualifying marks in the exam.
IMO Class 9 Exam Pattern

7.0IMO Class 9 Eligibility Criteria
Level 1: There are no minimum marks requirements. Any Class 9 student studying in a school registered with SOF can appear.
Level 2: To proceed to Level 2, a student should meet any one of these:

8.0IMO Class 9 Registration Process 2026-27

Registration Fee: Rs. 170 per student in India, Bhutan, and Nepal (as reported for 2026-27; 2025-26 was Rs. 125), plus any local expenses schools add. There is no fee for students with major disabilities or Indian students with a martyred parent. Level 2 has no separate fee.
10.0IMO Admit Card 2026-27
SOF sends admit cards and exam materials to participating schools before the exam. Students collect their admit cards from their school. Carry it on exam day.
