IMO Class 1 (SOF International Mathematics Olympiad) 2026-27
The International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) is a prestigious Maths competition organized by the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) specifically for students in Class 1. The primary objective of IMO is to identify and nurture young talents in the field of Mathematics. SOF, established by renowned academicians, scientists, and media personalities, is dedicated to promoting various subjects such as Science, Mathematics, Computer Education, English, General Knowledge, and professional courses.

1.0IMO Class 1 Exam Dates 2026-27
SOF has released the IMO 2026-27 exam dates on its official website. Schools choose one of the three dates, and each date has a different question paper.

4.0IMO Class 1 Eligibility Criteria
Students from classes 1 to 12 are eligible to participate in the 1st-level Olympiads, and there are no additional eligibility criteria. Students from class 1 are not required to appear for the 2nd-level exam. Instead, their performance is evaluated based on their results from the 1st level exam.
5.0IMO Class 1 Syllabus 2026-27
The syllabus is designed to test a Class 1 student's mathematical knowledge at an age-appropriate level, and it follows CBSE, ICSE, and State Board curricula. The question paper has four sections.
6.0IMO Class 1 Exam Pattern 2026-27
The IMO Class 1 Exam Pattern is designed to match the skills and understanding of young students. At Level 1, children respond to easy multiple-choice questions on simple Math concepts.

7.0IMO Class 1 Registration Process 2026-27
Students can only apply through their schools. Individual registration is not allowed. Schools must submit the application at least 30 days before the exam date they choose.
IMO Registration Fee: ₹170 per student in India, Bhutan, and Nepal. The previous year's fee was ₹125. International students pay in US dollars.
Approximate registration deadlines (30 days before each exam; confirm with your school): about 23 September for the 23 October exam, about 27 October for the 26 November exam, and about 10 November for the 10 December exam.
8.0IMO Class 1 Admit Card
SOF sends admit cards to the participating schools before the exam. Students collect the admit card from their school and carry it on exam day.
9.0IMO Sample Papers for Class 1
SOF has released IMO Class 1 sample papers on its official website in PDF format. Use them to understand the exam pattern, practise time management, and get comfortable with multiple-choice questions. You can also practise with previous year question papers and SOF's recommended IMO books for Class 1.

10.0IMO Class 1 Result 2026-27
IMO Level 1 results are tentatively expected in January 2027. Results are available on sofworld.org and results.sofworld.org using the student's credentials. Each student receives a Student Performance Report (SPR) and a participation certificate. Prizes and certificates are sent to the school.
11.0Preparation Tips for IMO Class 1
- Start early. Build a strong base in numbers, addition, subtraction, and shapes.
- Make maths fun. Use games, puzzles, and real-life examples such as coins, clocks, and measuring items.
- Practise logical reasoning. Work on patterns, odd one out, analogies, and simple figure-based problems.
- Solve sample papers. Practise a few at home so your child gets used to the paper and the time limit.
- Practise Achievers-style questions. These need a little more thinking, so encourage your child to try them.
- Keep it light. Short, regular practice sessions work better than long ones for a Class 1 child.
- Balance study and play so your child stays motivated.
