International General Knowledge Olympiad (IGKO)

The International General Knowledge Olympiad, also known as SOF IGKO, is held by the Science Olympiad Foundation to encourage students to think critically and apply their knowledge to solve complex problems. This Olympiad is a platform for students from 1st to 10th to expand their knowledge base beyond their regular classroom curriculum. SOF IGKO will be conducted on three dates. A school may select one date to conduct the SOF IGKO. The IGKO exam consists of multiple sections, and the number of questions and marks per question vary depending on the class level. 1.0International General Knowledge Olympiad: Overview

The International General Knowledge Olympiad (IGKO) is an examination organized by the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) for students in classes 1 to 10.  The primary objective of the exam is to promote and enhance the understanding of general knowledge among students. It assesses their knowledge of current affairs, social and political developments, history, geography, and other related subjects.

It encourages students to engage in a lifelong learning journey and enhances their ability to make informed decisions.

Students from classes 1st to 10th can participate in the International General Knowledge Olympiad 2024. They must be registered through their respective schools to participate in the exam.

6.0Application Process for International General Knowledge Olympiad

The application process for the SOF International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) in India involves the following steps:

  • Schools receive a prospectus with registration forms.
  • Coordinating teachers complete the School Registration Form (SRF) and Students' Registration Sheet.
  • Completed forms are sent to SOF before the deadline.
  • The registration fee is ₹125 (including GST) per student in India and US$9 for other countries.
  • Schools in India can add ₹25 per student for administrative costs and teacher support.
  • Students with disabilities or martyred parents are exempt from fees.

7.0International General Knowledge Olympiad Sample Papers

To prepare for IGKO, the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) provides sample papers and study materials. The sample papers cover a range of classes, from 1 to 10. The IGKO sample papers are designed to assess general knowledge and analytical skills. The questions are designed to meet national and international standards, and they are helpful to students preparing for the test. You can practice using IGKO Sample papers available as samples on the official website.

8.0SOF International General Knowledge Olympiad Results

The officials will announce the results of the SOF International General Knowledge Olympiad within 8 weeks after each examination. The respective schools will receive the results, and a link to check the results will also be available on the web portal.

How to check the IGKO Result

You can check the IGKO result by following these steps:

  • Visit Official website: results.sofworld.org/results
  • Under the olympiad section, select the IGKO Olympiad for the respective session.
  • Enter your School Code, Class, Section, and Roll Number.
  • A captcha will be provided for verification; enter it.
  • Press 'View Result'.
  • Your result will now be visible on the screen.

Note: In case of a tie for the same Zonal rank:

  • Up to 5 students with the same rank will split the cash award/scholarship equally. Each will receive a medal and certificate.
  • If six or more students share the same rank, they'll receive gifts worth Rs.1,000/each, as well as a medal and certificate.
  • For single-level exams like SOF IGKO, SOF ICSO, etc., a Medal of Distinction and a Certificate of Distinction are awarded for first-level performance. 
  • For 2-level exams, Zonal medals & Certificate of Zonal Excellence are awarded for 2nd-level performance.
  • Medals may be gold/silver/bronze-colored.
