Latest Update: According to the latest OJEE 2026 Information Brochure, the exam will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. For UG programs, the OJEE Board has officially updated the course-wise pattern including the number of questions, exam duration, and subject distribution.
The Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) is conducted for admission into various undergraduate professional programs in Odisha. Before beginning preparation, candidates should understand the complete exam structure because question distribution, duration, marking scheme, and subject combinations differ from course to course.

2.0Undergraduate Courses Covered Under OJEE 2026
It is vital for candidates to understand which courses require an OJEE rank and which depend on national-level examinations.
First Year Degree (UG) Courses via OJEE:
- B. Pharm (Bachelor of Pharmacy - 4 Years)
- B.CAT (Cinematography, Sound Recording & Design, or Film Editing)
- Basic B.Sc. Nursing (4 Years)
- Integrated MBA (5-Year Program)
Lateral Entry (LE) to Second Year:
- LE to B. Tech (Admission to 3rd semester for Diploma/B.Sc. holders)
- LE to B. Pharm (Admission to 3rd semester for D. Pharm holders)
Important Admission Note: Admission for B.Tech (1st Year), B. Arch, B. Plan, and Integrated M.Sc. courses are based strictly on the JEE Main 2026 rank. Similarly, medical admissions (MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS) are based on NEET (UG) 2026 scores.
3.0Detailed OJEE 2026 Exam Pattern
The exam structure varies by course, focusing on specific subject weightage and duration. All papers consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with four options for each question.
Undergraduate Course Patterns
Lateral Entry (LE) Patterns
- LE - Tech (Diploma Holders): 120 questions over 2 hours, covering Engineering Mathematics (40), Engineering Mechanics (40), and Basic Electrical & Electronics Engineering (40).
- LE - Tech (B.Sc. Holders): 60 questions over 1 hour, including Mathematics (30), Physics (15), and Chemistry (15).
- LE - Pharm: 60 questions over 1 hour, based on the D. Pharm curriculum.
4.0OJEE 2026 Marking Scheme and Evaluation
OJEE 2026 follows two distinct marking systems depending on the course group.
General Courses (Non-Nursing)
For courses like B.Pharm, MBA, MCA, and Lateral Entry:
- Correct Answer: +4 Marks.
- Incorrect Answer: -1 Mark (Negative Marking).
- Un-attempted: 0 Marks.
Nursing Courses (B.Sc., M.Sc., Diploma)
- Correct Answer: +1 Mark.
- Incorrect Answer: 0 Marks (No negative marking).
The Mandatory Attempt Rule
To be included in the merit list, a candidate must attempt at least one question from each section of their paper. Submitting a blank answer sheet or failing to attempt a question in every section will lead to disqualification and the rejection of the candidature.
5.0Eligibility Criteria for UG Admission
Candidates must meet these requirements to be eligible for seat allotment during counseling.
- B. Pharm: Must have passed 10+2 examination with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with Mathematics or Biology.
- Basic B.Sc. Nursing: Candidates must be at least 17 years old by December 31, 2026. They must have passed 10+2 Science (PCB) with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks (40% for SC/ST) and passed English individually.
- Integrated MBA: Passed 10+2 with at least 45% marks (40% for reserved categories).
- B.CAT: Passed or appearing in 2026 Intermediate (10+2) in Science, Arts, or Commerce.
- Lateral Entry (B.Tech): Must have passed a 3-year or 2-year diploma in Engineering with at least 45% marks (40% for reserved categories).
- Lateral Entry (B.Pharm): Must have passed a Diploma in Pharmacy with at least 45% marks (40% for reserved categories).
6.0Reservation and Quota Policies (UG)
OJEE 2026 follows the reservation guidelines of the Government of Odisha. These are primarily applicable to native residents of Odisha who produce a valid Nativity Certificate.
- Scheduled Caste (SC) & Scheduled Tribe (ST): 8% and 12% respectively. (Nursing: SC 16.25%, ST 22.5%).
- Physically Challenged (PC): 5% for candidates with 40% or more disability. Eligibility is determined by a state-appointed Medical Board.
- Green Card (GC): 5% for children of Green Card holders in courses like B.Tech, B.Pharm, and Integrated MBA.
- Ex-Servicemen (ES): 3% of seats in B.Tech, B.Arch, and B.Plan for children of defense personnel native to Odisha.
- Women (WO): 30% seats are reserved for women in B.Tech, MBA, MCA, and Integrated MBA.
- Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW): Up to 5% supernumerary seats in B.Tech, B.Pharm, and Lateral Entry for native students whose parental annual income is below Rs. 8 lakhs.
- State Government School (SGS): 15% reservation for candidates who passed both 10th and 12th from Odisha Govt. Schools (applicable to B.Tech).
7.0Step-by-Step Application Process
The application process is conducted through the Online Candidate Registration System at /ojee.nic.in/
- Registration: Register online to generate a Registration Number, which serves as your User ID.
- Select Courses: Choose one or multiple courses based on eligibility in a single application.
- Upload Images: Upload scanned copies of a passport-size photograph, signature, and left-hand thumb impression.
- Center Selection: Choose three cities in order of preference from the probable list in Odisha.
- Payment: Pay the fee online (Debit/Credit Card, Net Banking, UPI).
Single Course Fee: Rs. 1000.
Additional Course Fee: Rs. 500 per added course. - Confirmation Page: Retain a printout of the computer-generated confirmation page and proof of fee payment for future reference.
8.0Important Examination Rules and Conduct
- Admit Cards: Candidates must download two copies of the admit card at least 10 days before the exam. Both copies must be signed by the invigilator during the test.
- Arrival Time: The examination hall opens one hour before the test starts.
- Prohibited Items: Books, printed papers, mobile phones, calculators, and electronic diaries are strictly forbidden.
- Malpractice: Any form of malpractice will result in cancellation of candidature and severe punishment.
- CBT Interface: Since it is a CBT, candidates can change their answers as many times as they wish before the exam ends; the last selected option is saved for evaluation.
