The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board conducts WBJEE every year for admission into undergraduate engineering, architecture, and pharmacy courses across colleges in West Bengal.

1.0The Big Day: WBJEE 2026 Exam Date

The official date for the WBJEE 2026 examination is May 24, 2026 (Sunday). Mark this date clearly! The exam is conducted in an offline, OMR-based format across various zones in West Bengal, as well as selected centers in Assam and Tripura.

Exam Day Shift Timings

The examination is split into two mandatory papers. You must appear for both to be eligible for a General Merit Rank (GMR):

  • Paper-I (Mathematics): 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Paper-II (Physics & Chemistry): 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

3.0Are You Eligible? WBJEE 2026 Criteria

Before filling out your application, ensure you meet the WBJEE 2026 eligibility criteria. Missing these requirements can lead to disqualification during the admission phase, even if you secure a high rank.

1. Age Requirements

  • Minimum Age: You must be at least 17 years old as of December 31, 2026 (meaning you must be born on or before December 31, 2009).
  • Upper Age Limit: There is no upper age limit for Engineering, Technology, Pharmacy, or Architecture. However, for Marine Engineering, the maximum age is 25 years as of December 31, 2026.

2. Academic Qualifications

  • You must have passed or be appearing for the Class 12 examination in 2026.
  • Mandatory Subjects: Physics and Mathematics are compulsory, along with one optional subject (Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, etc.).
  • Minimum Marks:
    • General Category: 45% aggregate in the three elective subjects.
    • SC/ST/OBC/PwD: 40% aggregate in the three elective subjects.
  • English Requirement: You must pass English with at least 30% marks. For Marine Engineering, the requirement is higher at 50%.

3. Domicile Status

While students from other states can apply, they are only eligible for unreserved (General) seats in private colleges and specific university departments. To claim seats under the state quota, TFW (Tuition Fee Waiver), or reserved categories, you must be a domicile of West Bengal.

4.0Understanding the WBJEE 2026 Exam Pattern

The exam consists of 155 multiple-choice questions totaling 200 marks. The questions are divided into three categories for each subject, each with its own marking logic:

1 mark for correct; -1/4 mark for incorrect.

Category 2

2 marks for correct; -1/2 mark for incorrect.

Category 3

2 marks for correct (one or more options may be correct). No negative marking.

  • Mathematics: 75 questions (100 marks).
  • Physics: 40 questions (50 marks).
  • Chemistry: 40 questions (50 marks).

5.0Chapter-wise Weightage: Where to Focus?

Knowing which topics carry the most weight can help you prioritize your study sessions effectively. Based on historical trends, here are the high-priority topics for WBJEE 2026:

Mathematics (Highest Priority)

  • Vectors & Probability: 7% each.
  • 3D Geometry: 6%.
  • Calculus (Limits & Integration): ~15% combined.

Physics

  • Current Electricity: 7%.
  • Thermodynamics & Electrostatics: 6% each.
  • Nuclear & Modern Physics: 10% combined.

Chemistry

  • Chemical Kinetics: 7%.
  • Chemical Bonding & p-Block Elements: 6% each.

6.0Essential Exam Day Guidelines

1. What to Carry (Mandatory)

  • Admit Card: A printed, clean copy of your hall ticket.
  • ID Proof: Original photo ID (Aadhaar, PAN, Voter Card, Passport, or 10th Standard Admit Card).
  • Photograph: A copy of the colored photograph you uploaded during registration.

2. Prohibited Items

Do not bring the following into the exam hall:
